News Cookie began as an experiment with LangChain: can a news search experience feel less like a search box, and more like choosing the angle you're hungry for?

A broad keyword is baked into three directions — flow, trend and data. After you choose one, the app retrieves current reporting and turns it into a concise, source-backed insight report.

Gemini option baking

Google GenAI turns one raw keyword into three structured query directions — flow, trend and data — using JSON schema output.

LangChain + Tavily

LangChain's Tavily retriever searches up-to-date reporting, then passes the retrieved context into Gemini for a grounded Markdown insight report.

Source-aware results

Each report returns the source titles and URLs collected by Tavily, so the reader can trace the reporting behind the AI-generated summary.

Supabase account flow

Supabase Auth handles sessions, while the database tracks cookie tokens and stores baked reports, prompts and source metadata for each user.
